Day 1
Welcome to Rwanda
Ikaze – Welcome to Rwanda! Upon your evening arrival in Kigali, you’ll be met at the tarmac by our airport representative, who will assist you with customs, immigration, and luggage. You will then be transferred to your hotel for check-in, dinner, and an overnight stay.
Accommodation: Kigali Marriott Hôtel (Deluxe Guestroom) or similar
Meal Plan: Dinner at Soko Restaurant
Day 2
Cultural Immersion – Road Transfers to Volcanoes National Park
Begin your day with breakfast, followed by a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Next, enjoy a cultural immersion experience featuring traditional Rwandan dance, drumming, and basic language lessons. After lunch at The Hut, depart for Volcanoes National Park (approximately a 2.5-hour drive), with stops along the way to take in scenic views. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge.

Day 3
Mountain Gorilla Trekking
Start your day early with breakfast, then transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. Embark on a trek through the forest, which can take between 1 to 6 hours, in search of the gorillas. Once they are located, enjoy an unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for lunch, followed by a 60-minute massage and some leisure time to relax.

Day 4
Volcanoes National Park – Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel
Drive to Rubavu Resort (approximately 1.5 hours) and enjoy water activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding. After lunch at Lake Kivu Serena, continue to the resort town of Karongi (approximately 2.5 hours). Upon arrival, check in at Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel, followed by a sunset boat cruise or a fishing experience with local residents.
Accommodation: Cleo Lake Kivu Hotel (King’s Suite Room) or similar
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Day 5
Karongi Resort – Kigali
Enjoy a leisurely morning followed by lunch. Afterwards, drive back to Kigali. In the afternoon, explore the city by moto-taxi, take part in a painting workshop at the Inema Arts Centre, and shop for souvenirs at Kimironko Market. In the evening, savor a farewell dinner at the rooftop restaurant of the Ubumwe Grande Hotel before returning to your hotel for the night.

Day 6
Check out and Goodbyes
Have breakfast at the hotel. Later, transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure

- Important Information About Gorilla Trekking Experiences
Gorilla trekking is a rare and extraordinary adventure, unlike typical tours, due to its highly regulated nature. Because of this, we take every precaution to ensure a seamless and rewarding experience for our guests.Before confirming any booking, we must first check availability with our local team. This includes accommodations, trekking permits, and other essential logistics. Once availability is confirmed, immediate payment is required to secure all necessary reservations. Please note that gorilla permits operate on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be held without payment.If your preferred travel dates are unavailable, we can place your request on a waiting list, as last-minute cancellations may occasionally free up permits. Pricing adjustments can also be made where necessary.Important to keep in mind: Gorilla trekking experiences are typically booked 6 to 8 months in advance—or even earlier. We encourage guests to plan ahead to avoid disappointment, especially during peak seasons.
- This itinerary features some long travel days, which can be exacerbated by bumpy African roads. It is recommended that you pay close attention to the given approximations of driving hours.
- As the early bird catches the worm, the early camper sights the animals. There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.

Cancellation policy
- All deposits are non-refundable, however, you can transfer your deposit to a future trip of your choice.
- If you’re over 60 days away from departure, switching to another trip is easy! Simply send an email to your trip coordinator and move your payment balance over to another trip of your choice. Please note if your accommodations have already been booked the property may apply penalties – our team will always try to book flexible options ,however, if the property has a strict cancellation policy the credit applied to your account will be less any applicable cancellation fees by the property.
- Cancellations within 30-60 days of your departure date are subject to a 50% cancellation fee of the total amount paid after the deposit. The remaining 50% balance will be applied as a credit towards a future trip.
- Cancellations made within 30 days of the scheduled departure date or less are subject to a 100% charge of the total amount paid after the deposit.
