- Visa Requirements: Singapore: Many nationalities can enter visa-free for short stays, but check requirements based on your nationality. Malaysia: Most travelers can enter visa-free for up to 90 days, but some nationalities require a visa in advance.
- Currency: Singapore: The currency is the Singapore Dollar (SGD). Malaysia: The currency is the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). Credit cards are widely accepted, but carrying some cash is useful for local markets and smaller shops.
- Cultural Etiquette: Dress modestly when visiting religious sites—cover shoulders and knees. In Malaysia, some places, especially mosques, may require women to wear a headscarf. Removing shoes before entering temples, mosques, and homes is customary in both countries.
- Health Precautions: Vaccinations are not required but advised for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and typhoid. Mosquito repellent is recommended due to the risk of dengue fever in some areas. Tap water is safe to drink in Singapore, but it’s best to stick to bottled or filtered water in Malaysia.
- Language: Singapore: English is widely spoken, along with Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. Malaysia: Malay (Bahasa Malaysia) is the official language, but English is commonly spoken in tourist areas.
- Weather Considerations: Both countries have a tropical climate with high humidity year-round. Singapore experiences rain throughout the year, with the wettest months from November to January. In Malaysia, it sees the most rain from April to October
- Electricity: Singapore: Uses Type G plugs with a standard voltage of 230V. Malaysia: Uses Type G plugs with a standard voltage of 240V. Bring a power adapter if needed.
- Travel Insurance: It’s recommended to have travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost luggage for peace of mind.
If something goes wrong
Cancellation policy
- All deposits are non-refundable, however, you can transfer your deposit to a future trip of your choice.
- If you’re over 60 days away from departure, switching to another trip is easy! Simply send an email to your trip coordinator and move your payment balance over to another trip of your choice. Please note if your accommodations have already been booked the property may apply penalties – our team will always try to book flexible options ,however, if the property has a strict cancellation policy the credit applied to your account will be less any applicable cancellation fees by the property.
- Cancellations within 30-60 days of your departure date are subject to a 50% cancellation fee of the total amount paid after the deposit. The remaining 50% balance will be applied as a credit towards a future trip.
- Cancellations made within 30 days of the scheduled departure date or less are subject to a 100% charge of the total amount paid after the deposit.
