Please note this is a sample itinerary and your actual itinerary would be adjusted based on your selected activities, dates of travel and of course your travel style!

Day 1
Welcome to Johannesburg

Johannesburg is one of Africa’s biggest and most vibrant cities. It is the economic capital of Africa and the gateway to Southern Africa.

On arrival in Johannesburg, your new guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.

Ideally situated on Nelson Mandela Square in the Sandton neighbourhood, the Michelangelo Hotel will be your base in Johannesburg.

Start your afternoon by visiting Maboneng.

Maboneng, which means Place of Light in the Sotho language, is an inner-city area that was until recently filled with dilapidated industrial buildings. Since around 2010, it has morphed into a centre of Johannesburg’s creative energy.

Not far from Maboneng is Lorentzville, another inner-city neighbourhood which now houses Victoria Yards.

This project strives to encourage commercial enterprise that goes hand in hand with social development. There’s an urban agriculture project which creates jobs by growing fruit and vegetables that are sold to the public, artisan studios which nurture the skills of young craftspeople, and arts galleries that encourage the talent of undiscovered artists.

The rest of the day is at leisure. Nelson Mandela Square and the adjacent Sandton City mall offer a huge selection of restaurants, coffee shops and cafés.

Enjoy a welcome dinner at Zioux Restaurant.

Right next door is Saint where you can enjoy your first night in Johannesburg with night of cocktails and South African music.

– Drinks at own guests account.

It is a two hour walk that includes the Hector Pietersen and Mandela museums, and the free-market lifestyle of the Vilakazi precinct. For lunch, you enjoy the Soweto watch and eat tour.

Watch a magnificent meal being prepared by chefs together with their professional kitchen personnel. Includes lunch (the magnificent meal that’s just been prepared in front of you).

This tour is one of a kind, the smell of pavement cooked meals and the buzz in the streets of people going about their daily chores. Come and experience township life, the humanity, hospitality and warmth of the people, the “Ubuntu” as it is known in South Africa.
